This is the LARGEST group of arriving missionaries we have had here in the Oregon Eugene Mission. It has been years since I've witnessed this event and it was wonderful. For every new missionary there is a "trainer" waiting to meet them. As the vans pulled into the parking lot at the church our trainers formed a long receiving line. Each new missionary filed down the line and was greeted with warm handshakes and smiles. Once inside the building they have a group photo, listen to some brief remarks by their President and his wife, enjoy lunch and begin their orientation. Sister Young (the President's wife) asked the missionaries to be the kind of missionaries their mothers and grandmothers believed they were. I loved that idea. It was simple and very meaningful. I sure love missionaries and this event timed out perfectly for Love Month!
