A Great Read -- for the foodie, the hostess, the friend that loves to cook!

"I'm a bread person -- crusty, golden baguette, hearty, grainy, seeded loaves, thin crispy pizza crust -- all of it.  Flaky, buttery croissants, chewy pita, tortillas, warm and fragrant, blistered by heat.  Whenever my jeans are too tight, I'm reminded that I know better than to love bread the way I do, but love is blind, and certainly beyond reason." -- (from the introduction)

A good friend recommended this book to me and I could not put it down. It would be difficult to find an author more devout in her worship of good food and the importance of gathering family and friends around a table. Bread & Wine has short chapters that include recipes you'll want to try.

"Learn, little by little, meal by meal, to feed yourself and the people you love, because food is one of the ways we love each other, and the table is one of the most sacred places we gather."
